I Have Awakened to Our Awful Situation, Now What Should I Do?
I’m going to attempt to answer a question that has been asked by many people:
“I have awakened to our awful situation, now what should I do?”
The answer regarding what a person should do after waking up to their awful situation is different for everyone. My simple answer to everyone is to pray and ask the Lord what He would have you do. We each have different talents, knowledge and abilities and can be effective in different ways. It’s up to each of us to discover what the Lord has called us to do, and what role to play in furthering His Kingdom on earth.
Not Always Wise to Expose Evil
Consider this statement by the Prophet Joseph Smith…
“Our lives have already become jeopardized by revealing the wicked and bloodthirsty purposes of our enemies; and for the future we must cease to do so. All we have said about them is truth, but it is not always wise to relate all the truth. Even Jesus, the Son of God, had to refrain from doing so, and had to restrain His feelings many times for the safety of Himself and His followers, and had to conceal the righteous purposes of His heart in relation to many things pertaining to His Father’s kingdom. When still a boy He had all the intelligence necessary to enable Him to rule and govern the kingdom of the Jews, and could reason with the wisest and most profound doctors of law and divinity, and make their theories and practice to appear like folly compared with the wisdom He possessed; but He was a boy only, and lacked physical strength even to defend His own person; and was subject to cold, to hunger and to death. So it is with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; we have the revelation of Jesus, and the knowledge within us is sufficient to organize a righteous government upon the earth, and to give universal peace to all mankind, if they would receive it, but we lack the physical strength, as did our Savior when a child, to defend our principles, and we have a necessity to be afflicted, persecuted and smitten, and to bear it patiently until Jacob is of age, then he will take care of himself.”

Now also considering this seemingly contrasting statement from D&C 123:13:
For there are many yet on the earth among all sects, parties, and denominations, who are blinded by the subtle craftiness of men, whereby they lie in wait to deceive, and who are only kept from the truth because they know not where to find it — Therefore, that we should waste and wear out our lives in bringing to light all the hidden things of darkness, wherein we know them; and they are truly manifest from heaven — These should then be attended to with great aearnestness. Let no man count them as small things; for there is much which lieth in futurity, pertaining to the saints, which depends upon these things.
Keeping in mind the first statement I believe that in doing what we feel is our responsibility in bringing to light the hidden things of darkness, we must also consider strategy and tactic in how we pursue this cause.
How Do We Fight the Secret Combinations?
I’m not sure that a direct frontal assault on the Secret Combination is the right way to fight evil. I don’t think we (as a Church, and as Saints who have awakened) are strong enough to fight this battle, as Joseph Smith alluded to. We must bare some things patiently. There are many things we can do now. I believe in the indirect approach; fight evil by being informed, involved, and righteous. Personally I feel education is the key. I feel it is important to wake up as many as possible, so that more people will be found on the Lord’s side of this continuation of the war in Heaven on Earth. As I said before, ask the Lord what His will is for you. Some people will create blogs, websites, videos, some will organize and/or teach Constitution classes. Some people might be inspired to run for office, become a delegate, and so on. There are many possibilities. The correct answer for one person may be different for another.
We are counseled to “search, ponder, and pray” over the scriptures to understand the truth. You may have already “searched” and have, as Moroni termed it, awakened to our awful situation. I recommend that you ponder these things, consider what you have learned about the Secret Combination and the threats to our Freedom. Take your questions to the Lord, regarding what you should do about these things, and seek to discover His will for you. Often it is after we have received information that we receive revelation and inspiration. Those who are awakened have the information; next seek revelation.

Those that followed Bensons councel are now reaping the Blessings in a troubled world. They know what is wrong in this country and world. They know who is purpitarating it, and they know what it will take to fix it. They also know how the world will be set up after our wicked leaders and there handlers fall into the pit dug to insnare the saints. Those that have studied such sec. as 134, know the true seperation of church and state, when we have a right to rebel, when we can and cannot go to war, what our rights are that cannot be violated. Those who have not are under condemnation, which simply means walking in darkness at noon day. Those that are awake, know how to prepair, and are prepairing. The true contribution of Benson will soon be realized, probibly only by those who followed his councel. They will probibly be the only ones that survive.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints provides the most reliable warnings to its members to beware of these powerful secret combinations, or conspiracies, to gain control over all aspects of our lives. But with these warnings comes a commandment to awaken to our “awful situation” [Ether 8: 24] and a warning to do all we can to prevent the conspirators from getting “above us”, lest we be destroyed . [Ether 8: 23, Luke 13: 3] These warnings, including the commandment to awake to our awful situation, seem to be generally ignored these days. Discussion of them in church meetings can easily invite derision and contempt, even reprimand. When I joined he Church 50 years ago, I never expected a commandment would become a taboo subject.
As of late I hear increasingly from local church leadership here that one should not concern oneself with conspiracy “theories”, freedom and constitutional principles, but instead focus on the 3-Fold Mission of the Church. It is suggested that such efforts will resolve, or lead to resolution of the problems created by certain conspiracies (a.k.a. “secret combinations”) and the attacks against our Constitution and freedoms.
I fail to see that focus on the 3-Fold Mission of the Church, to the exclusion of efforts to awaken ourselves and others to our “awful situation” and responsibilities to work for freedom and honour and “befreind” the Constitution and its principles, will contribute to the prophesied restoration of constitutional principles in government and establishment of the Kingdom of God. I can see that introducing more people to the Gospel and ALL of its principles could get them in a condition spiritually such that they could awaken on their own to our “awful situation” and their responsibilities to support freedom and constitutional principles, can consider conspiracy theories and distinguish between fact and fiction, and decide for themselves what, if any, action they should take. But to avoid, even discourage concern about the attacks against our freedoms and constitutional principles seems to me to be disobedient to the Lord. Please, I invite comments, especially disagreement. I’m in the midst of controversy over this.
Lund*, The natural reaction once you have been awakened to our awful situation is to want to expose and take steps to counter the secret combination. But we don’t see the big picture as the Lord does; We simply must rely on the prophet as he will receive the proper guidance when the timing is right.
The goal of the secret combination is opposite of the mission of the church; so doesn’t it make sense to further the Lord’s cause in fighting against Satan.
Lastly, the admonition in the last verse of D&C 117 is quite applicable to your question. (“Moneychangers” are, in my view, synonymous with the secret combination, just more descriptive of their role in executing Satan’s plan.)
I as just introduced to this sight by a fellow Brother in Church. I can’t tell you how happy it made me to find a LDS who was knowledgeable about the secret combinations (ruling international banking and corporate elites) that have taken over the governments of the Western World. This situation is but a intensification of the War over Agency in the Pre-Existance. There were no fence sitters in that war and their should be none in that same war today. It is not the responsibility of our Prophet, Seers and Revelators to rally the Saints against our totally corrupt government. I give Ron Paul a pass but no others. I believe they have knowingly sold their souls to Satan and his gang.
We needs not be commanded in all things. We need to educate ourselves, our wives and children and fellow Saints. “Our Awful Situation” is not spoken about by the majority of Priesthood Holders in my Stakes or Wards dispite the warnings of our prophets. Less than 15% of the Priesthood even have viable 72 hour kits yet a one year supply of survival equipment, rations and water purification devices. “I the Lord am bound when ye do what I say, but when ye do not what I say ye have no promise.” By and large Christians are sitting on the fence of ignorancy and denial. I keep hearing the lame excuse of “All we need to do is follow our living prophet.” With this logic they throw out the Scriptures and admonishments of past prophets who clearly saw our day and have warned us about our duties to protect and defend Liberty,Freedom, the Constitution and our own religion. We need to educate ourselves, get our own houses in order and then warn our neighbors. Thanks for you time and Patriotism!!!
I have slowly become aware of my “awful situation” after about 18 months of research. I read the book, “Hiding in Plain Sight” by Ken Bowers (and a few others). Very good book. Mr. Bowers seemed very knowledgable about secret combinations, etc. He is a latter-day-saint, of course, and his work was commended by Dr. Cleon Skousen, who commented on Bower’s book as one of the best written latter-day commentaries about secret combinations.
I have to say though, that I am very grateful to have come to a knowledge of secret combinations, the elite, some of their agendas and to know how to conduct my life (temporal preparedness like food storage, spiritual preparedness, etc.), which I should have done anyway, regardless of the knowledge I have now. I have also become more aware of the constitution and its divine origins. What an incredibly provident document! Such wisdom!
I am reminded, though, that what we need to feed our souls are the basics, like a real study of the scriptures, sincere pray, paying tithing, and attending the temple, etc. I commend those who have their food storage, continue with the endeavor of increasing his/her spiritual preparedness, and yet don’t have a knowledge these things. I will always spread truth when people have an open mind, though.
The church is TRUE! Jesus is the Christ and will return. In that I have hope and faith!
According to Presidents J. Reuben Clark Jr. and Ezra Taft Benson, there is an ever increasing number of socialists being called into priesthood leadership positions in the Church. These prophets referred to such men as “ravening wolves” who teach “the precepts of men” that Nephi warned us about in 2nd Nephi 28:14. I have encountered a number of them over the years who were bishops and stake presidents. Not only were they unconcerned about attacks on the Constitution, they in fact referred to such prophets as David O. McKay, Heber J. Grant, J. Reuben Clark Jr. and Ezra Taft Benson as “right wing radicals”, and they treated true Jeffersonian conservatives with disdain and contempt, even stooping so low as to falsely accuse them of creating contention in the ward, and then using that as an excuse to not sign their temple recommend. The wheat and the tares are truly being allowed to mature together now. All is not well in Zion.
I agree with Randy, we need to prepare. I’ve been studying this for a long time now. Once you discover how bad off we are, later, you discover it’s worse than you thought. And it is. In reply as to “what to do?”, surprisingly, the Book of Mormon doesn’t tell us to take up arms, or some other drastic act, we are simply told to “repent”.
Our latter day prophets have suggested a little more to this which was mentioned above. I agree, and emphasize get out of debt, 1+ years supply
(interestingly there is a 13 month war in our future in the book of Revelations which is near in number) and above all follow the counsel of the living prophet. There is a v. good article way back in about June,1989 in the Ensign titled “Be Ye Also Ready”: The Amazing Christian Escape from the A.D. 70 Destruction of Jerusalem by George A. Horton Jr. It is very significant for our time. If anyone is concerned about saving our Constitution, it would be wise to let the Lord do His work first, we need to endure it to be that future tool. I think the corruption is to great, spread to wide, for us to do anything about it at this particular time. Read every thing our latter day prophets have said to get an understanding. Then if you come upon an idea of what is coming, ask in humility as we’ve been taught to get the answer. Brother Roger K. Young has a couple of really good articles he wrote as well under Free Info at the ldsavow website. “Preparing for A Repeat of Hauns Mill”, and “Why Tent Cities.”
I find it interesting that a huge number outside the church are becoming prepared (temporally) as well. I atune these with those who are kept from the truth because they know not where to find it…
Significant scriptures to me in this are: the Parable of the 10 virgins, Pres. Benson Oct. Gen. Conf.1980 address. Noah and the Ark- (who closed the door?), also Benson Oct. 1987 Gen. Conf. There are many more, but I’ll stop there.
I’ve tried to prepare and also to warn my neighbors, but I’ve got to tell you, warning your neighbors has a price. One friend of long standing, who is LDS but leans left, railed at me when I sent her the link to the “Awakening to Your Awful Situation” article here on LDS Conservative. Two close friends quit speaking to me and I’m sure that quite a few feel that I have become quite extreme in my views since my “awakening.” Oh well, time will tell….
I work at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. All though it is non-partisan I hear many debates over political issues. Some peoples ideas are just plain scary and so obviously against Gods plan. But I feel so much peace and assurance knowing the truth because I have the gospel. The gospel contradicts their very left ideas. Instead of trying to influence them politically (which would not work) I try to soften their hearts with love and consideration for them. I know most of them don’t agree with my view’s, but they know that I’m kind and sincere and maybe that’s the first step to awakening them.
The biggest thing I have to say about this awful situation is to follow the Gospel and the prophets. The vast majority of the time something argues against you praying or following the commandments, or honoring your covenants, it is not from the Lord.
Secret combinations almost always seek to counterfeit the dictates of true religion, especially charity or love of others, but they aren’t about following the ways of the Lord, such as prayer.
There are easily too many secret combinations to be numbered, but we should put the Lord first. I have heard plenty of all political parties and movements, but left or right does not matter, all of them don’t have the fullness of the truth, and cannot substitute for the hand of the Lord in a great many ways. There’s too many possible bad organizations out there, but there is also the fullness of the gospel, which we either fully follow, or we don’t. And when there is persuasion not to follow gospel principles, the devil is in the details.
I’ve felt like Lonni recently. Some friends and even family members not being as “fully awake” as we wish they were. I have high concerns for their unpreparedness. I think in the parable of the 10 virgins; the virgins waking up is possibly a process. Hopefully I will become more fully awake too. It has also crossed my mind that those waking up early are the captains and generals in our Lords army, rallying the troops to battle as we go.
I agree we cannot be one party or the other. In a great conversation with a friend he mentioned a duopoly; where both major parties are being manipulated. We too are being manipulated to choose any vote we want as long as it is the vote they want us to take. Sound familiar? I pondered this some more, if a duopoly were being manipulated in our government, would all other partied be left in the dark as it were and even shunned in events like political forums or debates? Ever see that happen? Ever see the press use ostricizing language like far right, right wing conservative, extreme right….the list goes on. Notice it some time. Ever see those obeying the counsel to store food referred to with extreme language, how about the light shed on home schooling or conservatives in general? We are HAMMERED in the press! This is public persecution.
My greated comfort comes in knowing our Heavenly Father does indeed love us and is a just and wise God. As the five wise, we need to know His beconing call, and be ready to go to the marriage feast when He calls. The Lord is eager to protect us.
